 Who can resist the deep blue of a sapphire?  The traditional birthstone of September is, similar to the diamond of April, simply too precious for use in a bookmark.  One source stated Herkimer Diamond can be used as an alternate birthstone for the month.  How cool is that?  Added to the Herk are two blue stones to make it 'feel' more sapphire-like: Labradorite with its gray, blue and often rainbow flashes of light and Iolite - a clear navy blue stone.
